A plasma accelerator which generates spiral current lines is presented. The accelerator employs a central anode in a disk nozzle configuration with peripheral cathodes which create an electric field with cylindrical symmetry and a magnetic field perpendicular to the disk plane. In order to avoid the ionization instability associated with the plasma configuration at high values of the Hall parameter, the cathodes are operated in sequence, resulting in the winding of current streamers. The functioning of the accelerator has been demonstrated experimentally, and it may be used for fluid pumping.
