Orbit Determination And Improvement
Scientific paper
This article is a brief tutorial on orbit calculations for objects in orbit around the Sun. A method is presented that avoids astronomical terminology as much as possible, avoids spherical trigonometry, and avoids tedious iterative methods for solving a required transcendental equation. Any student with a slight understanding of vectors should be able to calculate the location of an object in its orbit and determine its position as seen by an Earth observer.
