Earth Core: Fluid Dynamics
Scientific paper
It is proposed to treat the outer core of the Earth as a liquid contained between two solid spheres: the inner core and the mantle. The flow of this liquid consists of nonuniform rotation and meridional circulation. Very small-scale turbulent convection can be taken into account in the form of an effective viscosity. The flow in the region under discussion is capable of generating a magnetic field.
