The cooperation between small-scale turbulent motion and large-scale motions in kinematic axisymmetric mean-field dynamo models with meridional circulation is investigated theoretically. The basic equations and solution method are set forth, and results for spherical and spherical-shell models are presented graphically and discussed. The enhancement or inhibition of the dynamo action by meridional flow is shown to depend on the location of toroidal shearing, with a double-cell flow structure in shells favoring an oscillatory dynamo of dipole type.
