Nowadays, an extensive work is performed in two-dimensional photometry, specially using the CCD cameras. After having defined the units, the author briefly reviews the main instrumentation used to measure the magnitude of extended objects. He indicates some classical recipes used to delimitate the objects, to map the sky and to delete the spurious objects.
