In practice, it is often better to use magnitudes instead of fluxes in
exotic units. Moreover, for galaxies, it is possible to convert some
quantities, like apparent diameters, into a parameter equivalent to a
magnitude. The authors give relations to calculate an apparent magnitude
of a galaxy from the isophotal diameter and the brightness code.
