The cirrus cloud DC300-16 in Chamaeleon has been observed with ISOCAM in various bandpass filters and with the circular variable filter (CVF). Emission features characteristic of PAHs clearly appear in the average CVF spectrum. Furthermore there is a good spectral match between this spectrum and spectra taken in stronger radiation field environment, confirming the single photon excitation mechanism hypothesis. Imaging across the halo of the cloud with various filters reveals large scale color variations that could be explained by a decrease of C-H transitions (with respect to C-C transitions) inside the cloud. Small scale (~ 30 arc seconds) color variations are also observed, revealing regions where the emission properties are changing on small distance scale. These small scale color variations are significantly different from what is observed in brighter objects.
