Results of satellite measurements of the ionizing capability of iron-group particles at different latitudes are discussed. Particles with specific ionization energy losses which exceed losses of relativistic iron nuclei by a factor of two or more were detected at low latitudes. The analysis showed that these are iron group particles with an effective charge several times smaller than the charge of the nucleus.
