The transformation of MHD waves in the geomagnetic-pulsation range as they propagate through the ionosphere toward the earth surface is investigated, and it is shown that there exists a transparence peak for waves with a horizontal wavelength of about 1000 km. The behavior of the transformation properties of the ionosphere/atmosphere/earth crust system is examined in relation to geomagnetic pulsations as a function of incident-wave parameters and crustal conductivity. An algorithm is proposed which can be used to determine the parameters of the MHD wave which has induced the pulsation and to identify its type in the magnetosphere.
