A geoelectric version of the method of moments is described which makes it possible to determine the position and dimensions of a deep-lying inhomogeneity according to excess current and its center coordinates. The method is validated on a two-dimensional model excited by an E-polarized field. The excess current and the horizontal coordinate of its center are determined with the most accuracy. It is noted that the proposed method yields information concerning starting models in optimization methods.
