The Michigan MHD model (BATSRUS) and the Rice Convection Model (RCM) have been successfully coupled to more accurately simulate the physics in the inner and outer magnetosphere. This self-consistent combined model has been applied to several idealized solar wind input conditions. Results will be presented for a number of magnetic field reversals and magnitude changes. Analysis will include inner magnetospheric shielding, partial and symmetric ring currents, pressure distribution, and particularly 3D global current configurations.
