It is argued that in the eternal chaotic inflationary universe the number of uncompactified dimensions d can change locally. As a result, the universe divides into an exponentially large number of independent inflationary domains (mini-universes) of different dimension. As an example we consider the process of local decompactification of four-dimensional space-time during inflation in d = 6 Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory.
