Einstein's theory with a minimally coupled scalar field in a potential W can be conformally transformed to Einstein's theory with a conformally coupled scalar field in the potential V = W(1-φ2/6)2 with φ2<6. The appearance of an inflationary stage in the cosmic evolution and the singular point φ2 = 6 will be discussed.
