Two dayside auroral transients and their associated flow burst events are examined in order to verify the symmetric consistency of an electrodynamic description of the transient events. The observations are found to support a theoretical description of these events based on the concepts of flow excitation and decay developed by Cowley and Lockwood (1992). Attention is given to the significance of the altitude of the 630-nm emission; while the westward-moving event studied is consistent with 250-km emission, the eastward-moving event indicates an emission altitude nearer 500 km.
