A nonmathematical description of the basic ideas behind some recently proposed experiments for testing Einstein's theory of gravitation is given. Mention is made of gravity wave detectors, the possibility of detecting the gamma radiation or radio waves emitted from exploding black holes, the use of a circular cavity waveguide with superconducting walls to detect induced drag caused by a rapidly spinning mass, and the production of gravitational induction by a rotating cylinder which is jiggled up and down beneath a single sapphire crystal. The possibility is also mentioned of detecting a weakening of the earth's gravity by examining its effect on the period of oscillation of a very sensitive dumbbell type torsion balance.
