From the observations by PIXIE and UVI on board the Polar satellite we derive global maps of the precipitating electron energy spectra from less than 1 keV to 100 keV. Based on the electron spectra we infer the height profiles of the resulting ionization. Photoionization is also included in these calculations. We then generate global maps of the height-integrated Pedersen and Hall conductivities. By using a model of the high-latitude electric potentials, we deduce maps of the electric fields. Knowing the electric field and the conductances we calculate the Joule heating and the electric current. We present global maps of how the electrodynamic parameters vary through four substorm events from 1997.
