Nonlinear magnetoacoustic waves propagating in the F2 region are
analyzed on the basis of an equivalent-rectangle representation of the
electron density. Conditions for the formation of an envelope soliton
are established, and the parameters of this soliton are calculated. The
validity of the equivalent-rectangle approximation is considered.
