We present improved wave functions for the ground state, Laughlin quasihole
and quasiparticle excitations of the fractional quantum Hall effect. These
depend explicitly on the effective strength of Coulomb interaction and
reproduce Laughlin's original result in the limit of no Coulomb interaction.
