A review is presented of the theory that geological processes on the earth are influenced by a so-called galactic factor, i.e., the periodicity of the revolution of the sun around a certain galactic center with a period of the order of 220-245 million years. According to this theory, these galactic factors lead to changes in the internal structure of the earth, which can be manifested in crustal fracture and the displacement of magmatic masses on the earth's surface. Particular attention is given to data on the periodicity of the accumulation of hydrocarbons and phosphorites in the course of the earth's evolution.
