The construction of a flexible membrane mirror is described. Its basic
statistical characteristics-the sensitivity and the response function of
the mirror-are studied. The chosen arrangement of actuators is analyzed
theoretically. The possibility of using such a mirror in an atmospheric
adaptive optical system is examined.
