The fabrication and test program of the high-resolution mirror assembly (HRMA) for the HEAO-2 X-ray telescope are outlined. Each phase of fabrication and testing is described, except for the surface roughness measurement and the optical coating (discussed in separate papers). Attention is given to a discussion of fusing and optical shaping, optical figuring and metrology, as well as optical assembly and alignment. Test equipment and methods are described. Pertinent specifications of the HRMA are summarized.
