We investigate the technologies needed to extend the Cherenkov technique to reach the physical limit at which particles in the air-showers emit to o few Cherenkov photons to create an image. We present our ideas for the design of such an instrument, with an energy threshold down to ˜ 5 GeV, and a sensitivity of ˜ 3 · 10-10 cm-2 s-1 above 5 GeV.
