Generation of long wavelength edge radiation along directions nearly
coincident with the axes of straight sections of storage rings and synchrotrons
is discussed. The removal of destructive interference from the superimposed
edge radiation patterns of a straight section on the synchrotron "Pakhra" has
been observed experimentally.
