We incorrectly calculated the proper motions for individual stars given in Table 2. No other results of the paper are affected. In particular, the derived proper motion of the Carina dwarf spheroidal galaxy is unchanged. The sentence in the fourth paragraph of § 4 that reads ``Each value is the proper motion derived by fitting a line to the transformed coordinates corrected by subtracting the weighted mean proper motion of Carina given in the bottom line of Table 1'' should be changed to ``Each value is the proper motion derived by fitting a line to the transformed coordinates corrected by adding the weighted mean proper motion of Carina given in the bottom line of Table 1.'' The table below is a corrected version of Table 2.
