Magnetosonic waves in the critical ionization velocity events in the inner coma of comet Halley are studied using the data of the low frequency wave experiment aboard Vega-1 and 2. Three boundaries downflow of the bow shock are found: secondary wave at 700,000 km from the comet; outer boundary of the mantle; and cometopause. Pressure and chemical gradients in the presence of currents may be the source of the waves.
