A quasi-analytical theory of the propagation of 0.5-10-kHz waves in the earth-ionosphere waveguide is developed which takes into account the height dependence of conductivity in the waveguide channel, the anisotropy of the near-surface plasma, and the transformation and interaction of waves of different polarizations. The quasi-analytical approach makes possible an explicit representation of the effects of different disturbing factors on the wave propagation characteristics. In particular, the effect of solar flares on wave propagation is examined.
