Artificial Satellites: Orbits, Artificial Satellites: Three-Body Problem

Scientific paper

Satellite orbits in the vicinity of the smaller attracting body and separated from it by distances significantly greater than the radius of the Hill sphere are studied in the case μ ≪ 1. A description of such orbits and their long-term evolution is given, and the stability conditions are investigated. The analytic calculations agree well with the results of numerical integration of the equations of the three-body problem.
