Jeffries and Tolley (1998) have recently obtained x-ray (ROSAT) and optical (CTIO 0.9m) imaging of the southern open cluster NGC2547. Based on the optical CM diagram, they deduce an age of ~15 Myr for the cluster. This is a very interesting age, because the maximum lifetime for optically thick, PMS circumstellar disks is claimed to be of order 10-15 Myr. We propose to test this claim by obtaining JHK photometry for a sample of the cluster members identified in the optical, looking for near-IR excess characteristic of optically-thick disks. We will obtain 12 and 25 micron photometry for the same stars in Spring 1999 with WIRE, and use the combined optical, near-IR and mid-IR data to detect or place upper limits on the presence of optically-thin disks around these stars. We will also obtain JHK photometry for M dwarf and candidate brown dwarf members of the 30 Myr old IC2391 cluster. The long-term goal is to use VIJHK photometry for stars in NGC2547 (15Myr), IC2391 (30 Myr), Alpha Persei (60 Myr) and the Pleiades (120 Myr) to empirically define PMS isochrones for low mass stars and brown dwarfs - and hence to calibrate theoretical isochrones for that age and mass (0.04 to 1.0 M_sun) range.
