Dirac-delta function approximations are used to represent the single scattering phase function of large spherical particles or voids. The Dirac-delta function accounts for strong forward scattering. Particular attention is given to large ice spheres and spherical voids in ice. The Dirac-delta function is shown effective in reducing the number of terms needed to describe the phase function.
