Approximate expressions are obtained for the matrix elements representing the displacement, local deformation and local rotation parameters in a standard stellar kinematic model. The matrix elements are used to derive numerical values for the kinematic parameters in the case where the stellar motions are perturbed by the gravitational field of a spiral density wave. The numerical values obtained for the parameters are in general agreement with numerical results from previous calculations of the differential stellar space-velocity parameters of nearby stars.
