A closed system of hydrodynamic equations is obtained for a galaxy comprising a thin disk of stars whose random velocities are assumed small compared with their mean velocity. The equations yield an exact solution for nonlinear, stationary barlike waves propagating along a uniformly rotating, self-gravitating disk. The dispersion relation between the wave amplitude and angular velocity is established. The results are compared against the exact kinetic solution.
