We have developed a fibre-MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier) system as the light source of the future gravitational wave detectors. The output power from a 500 mW NPRO emitting 1064 nm was amplified by an Yb-doped double-clad fibre amplifier, and the maximum output power and the optical optical conversion efficiency were 12 W and 89%, respectively. The diffraction-limited beam was obtained from the multi-mode fibre amplifier by bending the fibre. The frequency noise and intensity noise of the fibre-MOPA were evaluated and suppressed.
