We propose to use WIYN+HYDRA to obtain medium resolution spectra in order to identify and characterize the solar-type stellar population of the ~eq 25 Myr open cluster IC 4665. An optically selected sample of cluster members is required to exploit an approved Spitzer imaging program which probes for dusty debris disks caused by the merging and collisions of terrestrial planetary embryos. A large, unbiased sample of solar-type stars in IC 4665 will allow us to accurately assess the frequency and strength of this signature and hence the diversity of debris disk properties at an epoch during when our own Earth-Moon system formed. The WIYN hydra observations will increase the number of known solar-type members in the cluster to ~eq 100, enlarging the sample available for Spitzer analysis by a factor of 5. Our aim is to understand whether the architecture of the Sun's terrestrial planetary system is a common outcome of the star and planetary formation process.
