The main aspects regarding the fluctuating diamagnetism above Tc in cuprate
superconductors are emphasized. Recent results of torque magnetometry in strong
fields and previous results from magnetization curves in low fields, in a
complementary way point out the occurrence of vortex and antivortex excitations
and phase fluctuations.
