Scientific paper

Bistatic radar exploration sessions of the surface of Venus were carried out with two artificial satellites orbiting the planet near the pericenter of their orbits. The parabolic antenna of the satellite was directed either toward Venus for irradiating its surface, or toward the earth in such a manner that the surface of the planet just appeared within the radiation pattern as the satellite moved behind the planet. The energy spectrum and variation of the Doppler frequency of the signal are analyzed, and the distribution of relative heights and rms slopes of projecting features is found for two regions of the Venusian surface.
