The Advanced Technology Solar Telescope's large collecting area,
combined with diffraction limited images delivered by adaptive optics,
will give it the ability to measure solar magnetic fields down to scales
of a few 20-30 km in the solar photosphere and the ability to measure
chromospheric and coronal magnetic fields.
