It is assumed that the associative detachment reaction H^- + H → H_2 + e^- + 3.724 eV plays an important role in astrochemistry of early universe and is of fundamental interest for astrophysics, plasma physics and theory. The reaction was studied theoretically and experimentally at 300 K by SIFT and down to collision energy corresponding to 30 K by merged beam technique. For further study of this associative detachment reaction we recently used a neutral beam of cold H atoms at temperature 10--200 K. H atoms are produced by dissociation in a discharge and after flowing through cold accommodator-nozzle the beam is passing through a 22-pole radio frequency ion trap where H^- anions are stored. The temperature of the beam and of the stored anions is variable, thus the reaction rate coefficient of the detachment can be studied in the collisional temperature range 10--150 K. The concentration of H in the neutral beam has to be calibrated for absolute rate constant measurements. As a calibration reaction we use the reaction CO^+_2 with H and H_2, recently studied by similar experimental arrangement. Examples of measured decays of H^- density due to reaction with H atoms at several temperatures are shown in the figure. The reaction rate coefficient at given temperature can be calculated from the slope of the decay and the H atom density. This contribution discusses the apparatus, the beam density calibration and also a proposed experiment for study of the electron energy distribution. The measured rate coefficient of associative detachment H^- + H and its temperature dependence will be presented and discussed.
