It has been remarked (Bespalov and Kolchuzhkin, 1981) that the ratio of the inverse current of particles to the forward current does not vary with depth in the same way for the electron and photon components of a shower. This ratio increases for the electron component, while it decreases for the photon component. An attempt is made to explain this result by performing Monte Carlo calculations of the forward and reverse currents of an electron-photon shower at various depths in the atmosphere and in lead.
