An experimental and analytical study of the deformation of the mirrors of optical telescopes is presented. The approach is based on physical modeling using a polarization-optical method and the application of the superposition principle, which makes it possible to restrict the initial experiments to a small number and to solve the difficult parametric problems. The proposed method is used to investigate a support system for a 1.5-m diameter lightweight mirror.
