Stellar Dynamics, Stellar Systems: Tidal Effects

Scientific paper

The authors extended the theory of dynamical friction developed by
Kalnajs (1972) in order to investigate whether or not a tidal radius is
imposed to the moving body by the drag force. The tidal radius turns out
to be of the same order of magnitude as the radius of the system where
the body is moving. The effect therefore has no practical consequences.
