A blue object survey has been carried out with the 105/150/330 cm Kiso Schmidt telescope to a limiting magnitude of about m = 18 for the meridian belt through the north galactic pole, the galactic center, and the anti-center. A spectroscopic program has been started for the brighter (m < 16) stars, which shows that a considerable (>50%) number of them are white dwarfs. Space densities for different color classes and a luminosity function for nearby white dwarfs are presented.
