From the experimentally observed waveforms of atmospherics the amplitudefrequency and the phase-frequency distributions were obtained using the method of Fourierintegral transformation. These amplitude and phase distributions were also obtained by considering the return stroke current expression. A comparison of the amplitude maxima in both these cases suggested that discharges having sharper current pulse width were more predominant.
