Telescopes: Adaptive Optics
Scientific paper
The adaptive optics system is a technique to get nearly diffraction limit image by compensating atmospheric turbulence in real time. It enables one to make observations with 10 times higher spatial resolution than the 0.5 arcsec resolution which is attainable at the best site. The author's team is constructing the system for the Subaru telescope, which will be available from 1999.
