Acceleration of charged particles in hyperbolic magnetic and homogeneous electric fields is analyzed. The acceleration process is shown to consist of direct acceleration by the electric field in the nonadiabatic region near the zero-force line and betatron acceleration in the drift region. The characteristic energy of charged particles is derived in the nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic ranges. The energy spectra are found to have an exponential form in high-energy regions.
