Medium energy (atomic number 10 to 26) cosmic ray nuclei were detected by a cellulose nitrate detector system lofted by balloon over Fort Churchill for 11.15 hrs at 2.9 mb. Examination revealed 401 tracks caused by nuclei with atomic number 10 or greater. Charge resolution of 0.2 charge unit for atomic number 16 or smaller and 0.3 charge unit for the heavier nuclei was obtained. Fluxes of individual nuclei at the top of the atmosphere were determined in the energy range of 200-650 MeV/n. Cosmic-ray source abundances were derived by application of the nested leaky box model of cosmic ray propagation, and the results are compared with solar system abundances and with abundances predicted by some theories.
