Rigorous solutions of Einstein's field equations of general relativity
are presented. They are found to represent the gravitational field
within a shell of radiation flowing outwards in a homogeneous universe.
These models suggest that the effect of complete conversion of matter
into radiation appears to decrease the curvature of the universe.
