The line-by-line spectral code SESAM used for the simulation of the radiative emission of entry-type plasmas is presented in this paper and applied to the simulation of the measured radiative spectrum proposed as test-case 1 defined in the workshop. A good overall agreement between simulation and experience is achieved. However, some minor differences arise in specific regions of the spectrum. These can be attributed partly to calibration errors in the experimental spectrum, but also to a lesser accuracy of the numerical code concerning the NO bands in the near-UV region.
