A short proof of the so-called Kastler-Kalau-Walze theorem is given, by
resorting to the ζ-function definition of the Wodzicki residue.
Moreover, comments are made on the relationship between the
Einstein-Hilbert and the spectral action, after suitably rewriting the
latter in terms of the Weyl functional.
