Proposals for renormalizing gravity are examined. In order to improve high-energy behavior, it is suggested that the Einstein Lagrangian (R) should be supplemented by higher-order Lagrangians containing terms of the type R(super-mu-nu)R(sub-mu-nu) and R-squared. Such Lagrangians have been shown to be renormalizable; however, they contain ghosts. Based on a renormalization-group investigation, criteria are suggested which, if satisfied, could make the ghosts innocuous.
