It is shown that the unified field equations used recently by Moffat et
al. (1977) do not have a solution in plane symmetry with a constant
magnetic field in the x direction. This is in contrast to the
Einstein-Maxwell equations which have a solution only for a constant
magnetic field in the x direction for plane symmetry.
